Cachoeira do Guardião — Curriola
One of the most unexplored waterfalls in the Chapada, hidden in the Vão do Moleque, within Kalunga land. The fall plunges off an imposing wall into a pool of crystal-blue water up to 12 m deep, with a natural rock diving platform. Almost the entire trail runs along the bed of the Rio Curriola, over rocks, inside the canyon. A Kalunga community-based tourism attraction, open to visitors since 2018.
- Visits only with an accredited Kalunga guide from the Vão do Moleque community (required). It's best to hire a guide from the community itself, who knows the trail better than guides coming from Cavalcante. Guide day rate around R$ 200.
- Visits in the dry season, roughly May to November. Closes in rainy periods (Dec–Apr), when the river swells and there's a flash-flood risk in the canyon. Access via ~70 km of dirt road on the GO-241 from Cavalcante (~2h); 4x4 strongly recommended (in the dry season there are reports of a regular car making it).
