Gruta do Sabiá
The best-known and most visitable cave in Aurora do Tocantins, inside an RPPN right on the way out of town. A limestone cave with 12 chambers and abundant speleothems on the ceiling, walls, and floor — one of them, the Salão da Cidade Branca, requires crawling through narrow passages. Visits only with a local guide, who knows the tight sections and the on-site research facility.
- A guide is required because of the access difficulty and the tight sections. Accredited local guides lead the visit; contact via the Aurora SECTUR (63 99257-9539). Operators such as Tiriba Ecoturismo (Renato Martins and the speleologist Wagner José de Moura) serve the region's caves.
- Best in the dry season (April to September), when the cave is dry. Between October and March there are drips with the rains — the period when stalactites form — and access is less comfortable.

The trail
A short approach trail from the parking area; the difficulty is inside the cave — chambers reached only after narrow passages where you have to crawl and squeeze through. Light caving, not recommended for the claustrophobic.
